Laughlin Air Force Base is the home of the “largest and best Flying
Training Wing in the world.”  Situated on the border of the United
States and Mexico, you’ll find yourself at a unique and special
location.  Laughlin Air Force Base is located six miles east of Del Rio,
Texas, which is known as the “Queen City of the Rio Grande.”  Del
Rio is the seat of Val Verde County, and has a population of more than 38,000.

Del Rio’s sister city is Ciudad Acuna, Mexico, and is located just
six miles away. Ciudad Acuna offers a unique cultural experience.
Passports are now required for all international travel, so make sure
you bring yours!  Ciudad Acuna can be accessed via the Del Rio-Ciudad
Acuna International Bridge and the Lake Amistad Dam International Crossing.

Del Rio is also home of the Amistad National Recreation Area, which
offers more than 67,000 acres of clear water along 540 miles of U.S.
shoreline.  Lake Amistad is known as one of the best bass lakes in the
country, and also offers camping and various water sports.
